this was a great pump to replace an aftermarket fuel sys. Lowered truck needed in bed tank and this inline pump to equal required pressure.

I have this pump mounted on a turbo-charged motorcycle. It is well more than adequate for my use and has proven to be reliable in my application, even after 5 months of use. The couplings to the pump are less than exciting and made connections of steel braided aeroquip lines a little difficult since the inlet fitting that comes with the pump is simply a nipple type. I had to connect my -6 line with a hose clamp... very untidy in my opinion. However, the pump redeems itself by being powerful and relatively quiet for its output. Nice unit that should last a long time.

I installed this pump level to the BOTTOM of my fuel tank, up front. It says to install within 12" of bottom HEIGHT. Doesn't mention distance from tank. I figured that it should be fine. Nope!! This thing has problems with being on a hill. If you have to park on the slightest incline be prepared to roll, push or winch to get pointed downhill so the pump primes itself. This also needs to be mounted on rubber feet because if it runs dry, from sitting on an incline, it literally sounds as though a tiny jackhammer is pounding on your vehicle. Trust me, it's loud and takes forever to prime itself, provided you're pointing downhill!

I bought this pump in August and installed on my car, it's a '72 model. I drove the car to the Expo and back -- almost 10 miles. I parked the car until October. The fuel pump would not work, this would have been the second time the pump was used. I returned the pump with the receipt to Auto Zone. They would not refund or exchange it. I was sure it was defective considering the little bit of use it had. I argued with the manager at Zone Zone and swore to never to any business with them again. I bought the same pump from O'Reily's and replaced the one I bought in August. I drove the car 4 miles that day and then parked it for 3 weeks. I went to move the car, and nothing, the second pump was out. Lucky for me it was within the 30 days this time. I got my money back from O'Reily's and replaced it with an Air-Tec, which has worked fine 5 times with the longest period of non use being Nov. 20 - Jan. 18.
Don't waste your money. You will be sorry if you buy this.

I have an old farm truck that sits sometimes for a couple of weeks without being started, and the fuel drains back out of the carburetor bowl and lines. Then it requires a lot of cranking by the starter before the engine will start.
I bought this pump and wired it to a toggle switch so I could turn it on to preprime the line and bowl before trying to start the truck so as to save wear and tear on the starter and battery. Once started, this pump is turned off, and the engine-run pump handles the transfer of the fuel.
It was cheap, easy to install and works perfectly.
I am very satisfied with it.

I also had two pumps fail after not even 10 minutes of operation each. This is a very simple application, with the carb only 4 feet away and 6" above the tank. Well within the spec of this pump. I checked electrical and fuel connections very carefully and did not run the pump dry.
The first time, I mounted the pump about level with the centerline of the tank (fuel flowed freely to the pump, as the tank was more than half full.) But it couldn't push it up the 6" to the carb. The second time, I mounted the pump below the tank. Fuel flowed freely through the pump both times, but didn't pump the 6" up to the carb.
This vehicle had a second fuel pump for its Hunter gasoline heater, of very similar design except 20 years old and rusted (and not made in China). I used this pump as my sanity-check. It was in roughly the same location, and if I connected the power and fuel line to it instead, the car ran fine. The vehicle is a Fairmont MT19 speeder, with an Onan 2-cyl. engine.

I converted a fuel injected BMW to carburetor, and used one of these pumps to replace the high-pressure pump. It's been working fine for well over a year, and mounted right in the spot where the former pump lived; just wired up to the existing pump wires.
I have a similar pump on my Citroën 2CV that's been there for over 10 years, and no pump failure.
In both cases, key to good operation is to mount the pump(s) as low as possible in the vehicle to have the pump 'pushing' the fuel, instead of trying to 'pull' it.

I had purchased another of these pumps to have as a spare. Today the car was having some fuel delivery problems (original Mr. Gasket pump that had been on for a couple of years). I decided to mount the spare Mr. Gasket pump. Like the other reviewers, I got about 10 minutes out of the pump, then it died. So I would change my star rating and lower it if I could figure out how to do it. Bottom line, I would not buy another pump like this. I think I just got lucky on the others.

I bought two of these pumps and the best I could get out of each one of them was 10 minutes. I checked the volts running to the pump and it was a constant 12 volts. I would not buy one of these pumps.
